In the digital age almost everyone has an e-commerce website. While there are a variety of ways to incorporate digital marketing into your strategy, many companies have seen success by incorporating social media. Looking for a few tips to get started? Try these:

Have a Social Media Presence:

This is crucial for any business in 2015, particularly those in the e-commerce world. Social media is a great way to tell your loyal customers about new products, special promotions and much more. Depending on the vertical of your business, social media also has the ability to visually appeal to your customers by featuring photos of your products and interaction with them. Take advantage of Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook to share photos and have a conversation with your fans. Some of my favorite brands, particularly in the fashion and beauty industries do an excellent job of sharing looks/styles with fans on social media.

Include Links to Your Product:

Providing a link to your product on social media is an excellent way to drive traffic to your website. When promoting a product, always make sure to include a picture as this helps to entice viewers and makes them more likely to seek additional information. Always make sure to include a link to take buyers directly to your page so they do not have to search for more information. The easier you can make the process, the better your chance of capturing buyer’s attention. Just make sure not to make your social media posts too link heavy, this will come off as overly promotional.

Show the ‘Real’ Face of Your Company:

Many brands are applauded for featuring images of happy customers and real models in their social media campaigns and you should do the same! For example, if you own a coffee shop and have a regular customer who comes in for her coffee every morning with an eager smile, feature her on your Instagram. Genuine interaction is more appealing to your social media followers than looking at stock photos or content that doesn’t relate to them. Are you involved with your local community? Attending an event? Make sure to take pictures and share them on your social media channels as well. This is a great way to show the real story of your company instead of constantly posting about your brand. Bonus points if you feature photos of employees and team building events. Your customers love your brand and want to know more about you.

What are your tips for using social media as part of your digital marketing strategy?
